DIRECT REPORTS:
Currently None; Seasonal Intern Management may be associated with role
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Flow-to-the-work will dictate travel required to support the Consumer sites. Not expected to be more than 15% of the time.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently lead technical projects related to improvements in plant capacity, reliability, and cost savings
- Deliver Operational Savings Project to support SBA savings goals: identify loss opportunities across SBA Operations, partner with plants and Brand Project managers to complete Loss Analysis Projects. Advocate for increased standardization across package forms and materials
- Design and execute Package Qualifications with suppliers, production facilities, and contract manufactures; execute package/material testing, distribution testing, shelf life and sensory studies and finalize performance-based specifications (PSDs) that adequately characterize our package raw materials to ensure consistent quality from supplier
- Support delivery of quality improvements through resolution of quality issues related to packaging materials or packaging processes; evaluate damage occurring in the supply chain, modify packages to reduce losses
- Continued technical mastery development in packaging, data analyses or problem solving is expected
- Provides technical coaching and collaboration within the TSO Department and Plant Operations to drive continuous improvements in material quality
- Technical resource for material specific lab equipment and is capable to perform accurate measurements and train others
- Provide capital proposals to meet business needs by defining technical scope, equipment performance and design rates, equipment recommendations, technical risks, labor implications, high level cost estimates, first pass system layouts, long lead equipment deliveries and value engineering
- Lead and deliver capital projects as needed, support capital projects led by plant or SBA engineers; develop and implement engineering designs for packaging equipment that will meet all Operations, Safety and Quality requirements
- Partner with the business team, R&D, and the plants to develop materials and packaging alternatives for existing product portfolio
- Manages specifications and changes with associated testing or project work, as needed.
- Provides timely reports and technical summaries on testing, validations, and problem-solving measures
SELECTION CRITERIA:
Education
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Packaging or Engineering (Industrial, Chemical, or Mechanical) is required.
Experience
- At least 3 years of engineering or packaging experience required.
- Prior experience in role(s) working with various functional teams.
- Prior experience using Initiative Management (IM) pillar tools, equipment specifications, equipment selection, vendor shakedown, commissioning/qualification/verification (CQV) protocols is preferred.
- Prior experience with a broad range of packaging equipment (depalletizing, filling, capping, induction sealing, labeling, cartooning, case/tray erecting and loading, form-fill-seal, sleeving, etc) is preferred.

- Strong Data analytical skills – familiarity with statistical based sampling, SPC, DOE and data analysis using JMP
