Summary

General Excavating (GE) is an award-winning contractor serving public and private owners throughout the state of Nebraska and South Dakota. General Excavating specializes in the construction of; underground utilities, environmental remediation, excavation shoring, directional drilling, hydro-excavation, and heavy civil including bridge and concrete structures.

Job Function:
Follow instructions and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner with the best workmanship possible. Keep open communication with Foreman or Superintendent when circumstances, which affect completion of the assigned tasks, have changed.

Education and Work Experience Qualifications:
  • Valid Driver's License with clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and physical exam.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
