Job Purpose:


The Turndown Attendant performs routine duties in the cleaning and servicing rooms in and around the property under supervision of housekeeping supervisor. The Turndown Attendant promotes a positive image of the property to guests and must be pleasant, honest, friendly, and should also able to address guest requests and problems.


Job Duties:


  • Adheres to the Gasparilla Inn 4 Steps to Memorable Service.
  • Exhibit’s the Gasparilla Inn’s Core Values.
  • Greets each guest with enthusiasm.
  • Use correct cleaning chemicals for designated surfaces, according to OSHA regulations and hotel requirements.
  • Transport turndown cart with cleaning supplies, turndown/guest room amenities and linens to assigned guest room and position securely.
  • Provide turndown service to designated rooms on assignment sheet.
  • Empty trash containers.
  • Remove all dirty terry and linen and replace with clean ones to designated layout.
  • Assist Houseman, Housekeeping Supervisors, Turndown Attendant, Room Attendants and Laundry Attendants with their job function to ensure optimum service to guests.
  • Promote positive internal and external guest relations at all times. Foster and promote a cooperative working environment, maximizing productivity and employee morale.
  • Replaced soiled bed sheets and make up bed; turndown bed to hotel standards.
  • Replace specified items in designated locations (turndown amenity/cards, weather forecast card, turn down candy, TV and remote control).
  • Set lighting and thermostat to predetermined levels.
  • Remove Room Service trays/tables/items from room to elevator servicing areas.
  • Ensure security of guest room access and hotel property.
  • Rehang/refold clothes.
  • Remove soil, dirt, soap-build up and hair from bathroom mirrors, vanity, sink, toilet, shower walls, bathtub shower curtain and floor.
  • Replace facial, toilet tissue and bathroom amenities in correct amount and location.
  • Clean guest rooms as assigned following all departmental procedures and standards as specified in Room Attendant description.
  • Update status of rooms cleaned and turned down on assignment sheet.
  • Return and restock cart at end of shift.
  • Empty vacuum bag and wipe vacuum clean.
  • Ensure security of any assigned guest room keys.
  • Handle guest complaints by following the instant pacification procedures ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Adhere to all safety and security standards for the proper use of all equipment. Be aware of all surroundings so as to prevent accidents and not damage property.
  • Report any damages or maintenance problems to the Supervisor.
  • Immediately turn over any lost and found items from guest rooms to the Supervisor.
  • All other duties as assigned.



Working Conditions and Assignments:


This position does require you to be standing and walking 90% of the time. The position requires a high degree of physical exertion such as bending, twisting, kneeling, pushing and pulling up to approximately 50 pounds. There will also an exposure to elevated noise levels of cleaning equipment.. Ability to communicate through voice and hearing as well as the ability to see the work area and do job accurately.

Due to multiple sites for the Inn, this position will often be exposed to outside weather conditions throughout the day. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

This position is full time and there is an expectation of having no scheduling restrictions and on-call hours.
