General Summary:

As a Cashier or Stocker, you'll fill a leading role in the absence of the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager. Your responsibilities extend from setting and maintaining plan-o-grams and programs to providing exceptional customer service. You'll carry out necessary tasks to drive profitability, customer satisfaction, teamwork, while ensuring the safety of our company assets and minimizing losses.

Duties and Essential Job Functions:

- Unload trucks in line with the store's established process.
- Adhere to company processes to receive, open, and unpack cartons and totes.
- Stock merchandise, rotate and face merchandise on shelves, and build appealing merchandise displays.
- Restock returned and recovered merchandise.
- Responsible for ordering zones and drop shipment categories in adherence to prescribed ordering practices, as directed by the Store Manager.
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of plan-o-grams.
- Assist customers with locating merchandise.
- Perform housekeeping tasks such as bailing cardboard, removing trash, dusting and mopping store floors, and maintaining cleanliness in the restroom and stockroom.
- Greet customers as they enter the store.
- Maintain the condition of register countertops and bags and carry out register countertop plan-o-grams.
- Operate cash register and flatbed scanner to itemize and total customer's purchases and bag merchandise.
- Collect payment from customers and give change.
- Maintain the cleanliness at the front end of the store and assist in setting up sidewalk displays.
- Foster a clean, well-organized store environment and ensure a safe and secure workplace and shopping environment.
- Provide superior customer service leadership.
- Uphold company policies and procedures as documented in the Standard Operating Procedures manual, Employee Handbook, and company communications.

In the Absence of the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager:

- Authorize and oversee refunds and overrides, count register, and make bank deposits.
- Assist in upholding strict cashier accountability, key control, and adherence to company's security practices and cash control procedures.
- Monitor cash levels and make necessary drawer pulls as directed by the Store Manager.
- If applicable, monitor cameras for unusual activities (customers and employees)
- Provide cashiers with change when needed.
- Complete all required paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.

Qualifications:

Knowledge and Skills:

- Ability to conduct mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
- Ability to perform IBM cash register functions.
- Comprehensive understanding of cash, facility, and safety control policies and practices.
- Strong interpersonal and effective oral & written communication skills.
- Familiarity with safety policies and practices.
- Ability to interpret plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.

Work Experience and/or Education:

- A high school diploma or its equivalent with six months of supervisory experience (or related experience/training) is preferable.
