Role Overview

As a Retail Sales Associate at our company, you will engage with pet owners and their pets, fostering joyful experiences and embodying our mission, vision, and core values. This position includes responsibilities for maintaining store cleanliness and ensuring pet safety, as well as providing direct care for the pets in our store.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties may include, but aren't limited to:

  • Delivering outstanding experiences to pet parents both in-store, online, and over the phone.
  • Interacting with pet parents and addressing queries throughout the store.
  • Preparing online orders for in-store pick-up.
  • Taking care of store-owned pets by feeding, providing water, and cleaning their habitats (birds, reptiles, small animals, crickets, and fish).
  • Keeping the store tidy according to our standards.
  • Assisting with weekly price updates and monthly promotional pricing.
  • Organizing new products to align with sales floor plans.
  • Restocking and arranging products to meet display standards.
  • Recommending and selling products, services, and live pets.
  • Administering medications to store-owned pets under veterinary guidance.
  • Participating in organized events like adoption weekends, charity events, and more.
  • Ensuring a secure environment for customers, pets, and team members.
  • Responding promptly to any ill or injured pets in the store; facilitating veterinary transport when necessary.
  • Supporting store operations across various departments as needed.
  • Contributing to a culture of inclusion and recognition.
  • Adhering to all company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Capacity to remain composed under pressure.

Physical Demands and Work Atmosphere

  • The role requires standing, walking, climbing ladders, handling objects, and writing. Regular reaching, stooping, kneeling, and hearing are needed, with specific visual requirements including depth perception.
  • Regularly lifting up to 50 pounds, with occasional team lifts over 100 pounds, is part of the job.
  • Exposure to moving parts, pet hair, wet conditions, and moderate noise levels is expected. Interacting with live animals is common.
