About the position
The Clinic Nurse (RN) at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian provides professional nursing services to patients in an outpatient setting. This role is crucial in performing nursing assessments and delivering both direct and indirect patient care. The Clinic Nurse is responsible for providing health advice and education to patients and their families, ensuring they are well-informed about their health conditions and treatment options.
Additionally, the nurse may handle phone triage, which involves evaluating patient symptoms to determine the urgency of their situations and facilitating the next steps in their care. This position requires the nurse to utilize the nursing process based on research and evidence-based outcomes to effectively meet patient care needs. In this role, the Clinic Nurse administers medications, collects specimens, and performs various nursing procedures within their scope of practice.
It is essential for the nurse to document all nursing services provided accurately. Collaboration with other healthcare team members is vital to ensure the delivery of quality patient care, especially when facing ethical or legal issues. The Clinic Nurse also plays a key role in enhancing the patient experience and ensuring that services comply with all applicable regulatory and professional standards, including the California Nurse Practice Act. Other duties may be assigned as necessary to support the clinic's operations and patient care objectives.

Responsibilities
- Perform nursing assessments to provide direct and indirect patient care.
- Provide health advice and patient education to patients and their families.

Requirements
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in good standing in the State of California.
- Successful completion of a nursing program.
- Basic keyboarding skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Current BLS Certification.
Nice-to-haves
- One (1) year of clinical nursing experience preferably in an ambulatory care setting.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- Knowledge of registration and order entry systems.
- Knowledge of patient scheduling, insurance verification, and authorization.
- Diabetes education experience.
