Job description: POSITION DESCRIPTION:

PERIKIN looking to hire an experienced project accountant to join our company. In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing the accounts of various construction projects by creating detailed budgets, overseeing supplier contracts, evaluating production costs, and verifying invoice statements. To ensure success as a project accountant, you should display excellent business acumen and the ability to minimize production costs through efficient accounting. Ultimately, a top-notch project accountant is an analytical and detail-oriented individual with a high level of financial accuracy. In addition, the project accountant supports projects with overall accounting and financial activities to measure and monitor project financial performance. Creates and maintains project level accounts. Completes all postings, allocations, accruals, and payments for the project. Prepares and distributes monthly reports on project status including budget and forecasting for project reviews. Coordinates with the project team to reflect changes in project scope or timeline. Prepares final project closeout. The project accountant will generally work independently and be collaborative in nature.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:

Collaborating with the project manager to develop a detailed
Cost-effective budget for the project
Performing accounting duties throughout the project, such as preparing invoices, estimating cash flow, and signing off on purchase orders
Analyzing all transactions and working unforeseen costs into the budget
Collaborating with the project manager to forecast gross profit by capturing contract financial position through Work in Process (WIP) for revenue recognition
Keeping a record of all project finances for internal/external auditing and tax purposes
Preparing cost analyses by interpreting projects’ financial data and information
Reporting any financial risks and budgetary discrepancies to management for review
Developing and maintaining strong relationships with vendors and suppliers
Keeping abreast with both the construction and accounting industries

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
A minimum of 5 years experience in private accounting
Certification in construction accounting is preferred
Experience with construction project accounting preferred
Excellent knowledge of construction cost accounting and related financial procedures
Working knowledge of the construction industry
Solid analytical and mathematical skills
Meticulous attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Expert Experience with MS Office Products is required
Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks
Familiarity with construction management software such as Procore (preferred)
Manage budgets and schedules
Manage emails and clear communication using email
