Clinical Informatics Specialist id-14622
About the position
The Clinical Informatics Specialist at The University of Kansas Health System is a pivotal role that integrates nursing science, computer science, and information science to enhance the management and communication of clinical data. This position focuses on ensuring the value of information systems through quality, safety, and user experience, while leading projects, analyzing systems and processes, and promoting data standards and system adoption. The ultimate goal is to improve clinical practice performance through effective use of information systems, thereby optimizing patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates advanced informatics analysis skills to manage and problem-solve in application deployment and work process transformations.
- Provides evaluation and consultation for enterprise-wide technology needs.
- Documents and implements health system-wide Informatics standards and processes.
- Leads informatics support for system-wide project implementations and manages the inventory of requests for operational areas.
- Applies change management theories and strategically plans communication and support for system changes.
- Operationalizes quality methodologies and assures performance improvement outcomes with implementations.
- Contributes to usability standards and proactively identifies system enhancements for user experience.
- Acts as a liaison and educator for end users to optimize system utilization and evidence-based care provision.
- Facilitates complex changes through implementation and post-implementation monitoring.

Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related field.
- 3 or more years of direct patient care experience.
- 2 or more years of Informatics experience.
- Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Multi-State - State Board of Nursing.
- EPIC Proficiency/Certification within 180 Days.
Nice-to-haves
- Master's Degree in a position-related field.
- Less than 1 year of management experience.
- Informatics Nursing Certification (RN-BC) - American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
