Job Summary of City Transport Operator:

Carry and distribute goods from Service Centers to customers while aiding in sales activities.

Qualification of City Transport Operator:

  • An essential qualification includes having a class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) that covers endorsements for double/triple, hazardous materials, and tank operations.
  • Automatic transmission CDL limitation is an authorized restriction that permits a driver to solely operate vehicles with automatic transmission technology.
  • Candidates need to have one year of recent experience or finish the FedEx Freight Driver Development Course to qualify. Additionally, a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) meeting set hiring criteria is required
  • In order to drive Long Combination Vehicles (LCVs) in these states, drivers must adhere to the specified standards for qualification and certification
  • Fundamental numerical skills and the capacity to carry out basic mathematical computations
  • Ability to lift/carry hand freight weighing up to 100 pounds several times a week.
  • Strong capacity to sit for long periods, bend, turn, crouch, and ascend or descend from a truck. Skilled in comprehending and executing given directives along with fulfilling necessary training
  • The skill to function self-sufficiently or in cooperation with others

Working Conditions of City Transport Operator:

  • Drive throughout shift on all types of roads and in all types of weather Exposure to noise and vibration Exposure to dust and diesel fumes Exposure to hazardous materials shipped and packaged under DOT regulations Hours may vary due to operational need
  • The Hazardous Materials endorsement must be obtained within 120 days of offer acceptance.
  • An employee will not be allowed to drive a commercial motor vehicle without this endorsement.
